Description: A magnificent wood ShuanTien( The Northern God) was finely carved in 13th-15th Century. Clad in sophisticated motifs on the robe, the deity sit easily with one arm(which had been lost) resting on the raised lap. It was an excellent traditional carving piece. With flouring lines of the robe, the softness and naturalistics of the flesh of the revealed toes and the torso under robe were vividly rendered. Enduring over 500 to 600 years, the huge museum-class sculpture was preserved in a prestigious condition with original cracked paints. Some old restorations had been done to the hair knots and the lower portion of the right leg. And some fastening work had been done to the base by the ex-collector to eliminate further damages from termites. Holes caused by termites were on the shoulder. Date: Yuan to Early Ming period(13th-15th century) Height: 58cm
