| Description: An old bamboo carving of a toad was finely rendered. Making use of the natural form of a bamboo root, the craftsman skillfully depicted the frog in a crouching position. By vivid depiction, the frog was alive and animated as she should be in the weeds. In quite good size and fine patina, this bamboo piece was kept by a veteran collector in 1980s and lent for exhibition at the National Museum of History in Taiwan, Dec, 1996, It can be noted in the exhibition publication “Shang Xiang Cheng Xing- The Art of Bamboo Carvings ”, page 139. Date: Qing Dynasty(18th/19th Century), Dimension:8.8cm x 8.6cm. Condition: Some frets in the front. | |||||||||||||
