A Shakyamuni Buddha was tensely alert, seated in the diamond posture.
His right hand was placed over his knee in the earth-witness gesture.
The left hand was in the contemplation gesture.
The figure appeared animated and vigorous, but his visage was introspective and calm.
He was well mold and carved on the features, robes, limbs and the beaded lotus throne.
Cast by excellent metal material, the copper-bronze Buddha was in charming and dark-hued patina when enduring old adhesives were covered in portions on the surface.
From the abrasions of the tips of the motifs, golden metal sheen was revealed proving its fine quality.
Date: late 19th century to early 20th century. Tibet.
THE UNDERCOVER AT THE BOTTOM WAS A RESTORATION BY LATER DATE.
A CUSTOM MADE SILK BOX IS INCLUDED.
