Circa 1940 American glass, unknown maker. This is a highly unusual heavy black glass circular stand likely of American manufacture but in the classic Chinese style with three raised feet, multiple beaded edges, a slightly raised outer lip and all the detailing seen in a finely turned Chinese wooden stand of this type. This is NOT Chinese “Peking glass” but was obviously inspired by Chinese wooden stands, and it seems likely the designer had a fine Chinese wooden prototype to work with...
