| EXTRAORDINARY AMERICAN MODERNISM IN GLASS CIRCA 1955-60 SIGNED “ANDERSON”. This very fluid, nearly kinetic, hand-shaped white glass vase is a masterpiece of American modernism. Fluted vertical lines are played against pulled glass on the surface. The asymmetrical appearance is however repeated on both sides while the vase works from all angles or in the round elevating this white glass vase to the level of modern abstract sculpture. (Extensive photographs provided below.) The artist was probably an accomplished potter, accomplished with ceramics as well as glass, and has brought a unique sensibility to his art glass work. The signature “Anderson” is inconspicuously etched on the underside near the pontil mark. Dimensions: approximately 15cm (6”) high and weighing 2 lbs 15.8 ounces (1kg 355g).
