A large and impressive, fine quality Meiji period circa 1890 Imari charger of splendid "Herons"- birds in a breathtaking and glistening classical matrix of cobalt blue, white, pink, black, iron red, and gilt colors. This is not your normal and average charger- an unusual design of birds rarely found now and worthy of display in your home or office. The reverse painted in underglazed blue and signed. Both sides in equally fine condition, minimal wear to the gilt. To be accurate , there are two very tiny (minor) firing marks on the obverse. We will include the old metal plate stand that still adorns the reverse side and provides an instant wall hanging asembly. Dimensions: 15.5"d
Condition: Excellent, with no chips, hairlines or restoration. Minimal wear to gilt areas. This is a very nice find coming from a private English collection.
