A fine pair of Italian gilt bronze "fighting cockerels" measuring a substantial 9" in height and 10" in width. They date to the late 19th/ early 20th century. Lovely qualty. From an old midwest collection formed by an American industrialist who once owned the Villa del Balbianello on Lake Como in Italy. The villa had been built in 1787 on the site of an early Franciscan monastery and had fallen into disrepair until restored in the early 1920's.
Pleasing to your eye, this example has been well cared for and is destined for the finest collection. Estate fresh, unusual opportunity.
