| Early 19th century or late 18th century carved wood and gessoed figure of the virgin Mary holding a sceptre or bouquet in one hand and the child Jesus in the other, balancing him in a classic mother's way on her hip. She wears a crown and very long hair. Height of the statue with base is 14" The base measures 5" x 3" Condition is consonant with age; a major loss is the child's left arm; the virgin's right hand holding the sceptre is damaged and that forearm has been glued back on. | ||
