| This is an interesting arts and crafts ring, a hand crafted gold band set with three fire opals set in a prominent cramp setting (this is a variation of the rub-over setting, in which the metal is cut away and there are points which are then folded over to keep the stone in place). What immediately caught my eye about this ring was the stones, (I thought) but I think the artist also wanted to make you aware of his or her hand with this prominent type of stone setting. And the artist’s hand is an important part of the arts and crafts aesthetic. As you can see from the photos there is a rich array of colors in these opals. It is a size 6 3/4, is unsigned but marked 14K gold. | |||||||||
