| This Scandinavian sterling silver necklace was designed by Anna Greta Eker for Plus, an arts and crafts cooperative started in 1958. The founder also established Norway Design, an Oslo based shop which marketed the work. The pendant shows light hammer marks from planishing the silver, a technique to harden metal which is seen on several of Eker's pieces. The piece is 2 5/8" long x 2" (at the widest)and the chain (which I doubt is original) is 24" long. The piece is marked for Norway Designs, Norway, Sterling 925S (s is for solv, the Norwegian word for silver). Like many of her pieces, this does not bear her mark AGE, but the matching bracelet is pictured in Christie Romero's book on page 241 and other of her pieces exhibiting similar curvilinear designs are also pictured on page 244. (NB: There is a teeny, tiny mark on the top of this pendant which is not a ding or scratch. It's in fact a hallmark which also appears on the bale and reads ZII (you can see it on the second image). I'm told it is a Dutch mark for silver so I'm assuming it's an import mark - I did purchase this in Amsterdam). | |||||||
