| This lovely art nouveau silver necklace is set with a chrysoprase stone. This is from Germany, where the Art Nouveau movement was known as Jugendstil and had it's own identity that was also influenced by the British Arts & Crafts movement of the time. The flowers and leaves are wonderfully modeled (see detail photos). The rear is marked for 800 silver and a very distinct makers mark which is Martin Mayer of Mainz, a contemporary of Fahrner. The final number I assume to be an inventory or pattern number. The pendant part is 1 3/16ths in diameter and the necklace is 11 3/16ths long. It appears to be all original and is in wonderful condition. The necklace is c.1910. | |||||||||
