| This early German art pottery vase is by Richard Uhlemeyer, whose work is very distinctive. Many of his pieces have this incised sgraffito decoration that looks like lightening. This piece which is 6 inches tall has a mottled reddish brown glaze and the incised pattern which reveals the bisque surface underneath. There are a few tiny glaze pops from the production process but it's in excellent condition. Based on other pieces, I would date this to the 1940s. It is marked on the base and also stamped Germany. Very rich colors and an attractive piece. | ||||||
