Gorgeous studio ceramic vase from Germany richly glazed in various shades of red. The vase shows a strong Asian influence in it's delicate, subtle design and gradation of color. It was made by Klaus Schultze, born 1927 whose work often shows a Japanese influence. A prominent studio potter, his pieces are quite rare to find. He established a workshop in Paris in 1956. He is best known for his large scale sculptures and public installations made from colored brick which he began producing in the late 1960s. These are found in Zurich, Munich, Grenoble, Paris and elsewhere in Europe and have a whimsical and often humorous aspect. The vase is 8 inches tall and in excellent condition. A truly fabulous piece, I have taken many images to show the subtle variations in design around the bottle shape. |
