| This studio pottery vase by Gerhard Liebenthron, dated 1964 has a rich palette of variegated blues and greens. Different from much of his work which tends to feature abstract and or primitive figural designs in an ochre/brown range of colors, this is a simple cylindrical shape with a rich and glowing marine palette. Liebenthron started his own workship in Bremen in 1952 so this is a fairly early work of his. If you search on Liebenthron from my homepage you will see other examples of his work. Liebenthron's work can be found in several museums in Germany including the Keramik Museum in Berlin, the Fockemuseum in Bremen and the Hetiens Museum in Dusseldorf. | ||||||||
