| Striking sterling silver ring with opal and pearl. This is known as a black opal and has a shape reminiscent of the the 1950s - an amoeba or atomic type of shape. It is also set with a natural pearl. The opal's main characteristic is opalescence (a rainbow like iridescence which changes with the angle of observation). It is a relatively soft stone so care must be taken with it when set in a ring. Fabulous looking piece, it is only stamped 925; no maker's mark. It has a wide shank (ranging from 4mm to 7mm closest to the shank). It is currently a size 9 1/4 and could be readily resized or could also be worn by a man. | |||||||
