| Fabulous modernist silver necklace by Theresia Hvorslev of Sweden. I also have the matching ring listed (#1291). The very fluid and substantial piece is comprised of three highly sculptural, organic elements of decreasing size. The pendant portion of the necklace hangs from a neckpiece made of 4 curved and hammered silver bars. While there is a somewhat primitive feel due to the construction and the surface treatment of the silver, this is a very sophisticated and attractive piece of wearable art. There are myriad marks on this piece and in three different places, all of which are pictured. The back of the pendant portion has the designer's signature, 925S, Sterling, Mema (the maker), L (the city mark for Lidkoping), the Swedish country mark and X9 for 1972. The upper portions of the necklace piece have the same marks divided between them except that interestingly, the year mark is Z9 for 1974. And the matching ring listed has the year mark of Y9 for 1973, so clearly this was an evolving creative endeavor! The necklace weighs over 81 grams. The pendant portion is 3 inches long by almost 2 inches wide. | ||||||||||
