| The glaze on this signed studio vase by Horst Kerstan is wonderful. His pieces are typically spectacularly decorated. This vase is decorated with an oilspot glaze which you must admit is a pretty accurate description. (Forgive my photographs - I had a hard time capturing this without the glare and shadows). It is a dark brownish/black background with purple oilspots covering the surface. These diminish in size towards the bottom of the piece. Marked on the bottom, this is 4 1/2 inches tall and about 14 1/4 inches in circumference. In excellent condition, circa 1970s/80s. Kerstan is considered one of the premiere ceramic artists in Germany and since his death about five years ago, his prices only continue to rise. | |||||||
