| Two wonderfully glazed ceramic vases by Mathies Schwarze. A swirling, sensual combination of browns, blacks and tans on two beautiful forms. Schwarze, a master potter, who trained in Germany with some of the most preeminent ceramic artists, has been working since the 1960s and has his own school as well. The piece to the left is 11 1/2 inches tall. The piece to the right is 8 3/4 inches tall and 20 inches in circumference at the widest. Mathies' work has appeared in numerous competitions and is in several museums and private collections worldwide.
