| Lovely crystalline glazed ceramic vases by Mathies Schwarze. A master potter, who trained in Germany with some of the most preeminent ceramic artists, he has been working since the 1960s and now has his own school as well. The vase on the left has a pale green background decorated with a crystalline design. Beautiful shape with a lovely thin neck and wonderful decor. It is 9 1/2 inches tall and 24 inches in diameter. Signed on the base. The vase to the right has a pale yellow background decorated with a pale green crystalline design. Beautiful shape and wonderful decor. It is 4 1/2 inches tall and 24 inches in diameter. Signed on the base. There is a slightly "bumpy" area on the lower part of the vase, where the crystalline glaze did not quite take, but it is not visible when the vase is displayed. Mathies' work has appeared in numerous competitions and is in several museums and private collections worldwide.
