Troy Webb (B.1926- ) A Tennessee native, living in abject poverty is the rule rather than the exception. Webb has had a hard life, diagnosed with cancer, black lung disease and little to no formal education. Still Troy Webb is no quitter. He has always persevered and, over the years, he has developed an increasing pride in his work. His coal miners, ranging from miniature on up to life size, carry picks and axes and are dressed by Webb's wife. They are his signature piece and they are eagerly sort after by knowledgeable collectors who appreciate this region and their "folk-art" look.
