This classic sterling silver mint julep cup was crafted by Wakefield Scearce in a limited edition during the presidency of Harry Truman (b. 1884-d. 1972). The Presidential cups are aways highly desirable, but the firm began making these cups---copies of a 19th century beaker---during the term of Harry Truman, so a cup out of this first run is especially rare to find. Dimensions are 3-3/4 inches in height by 3-1/8 inches in diameter at the lip. Beaded at both the rim and the base, the cup was made to look like the 19th century julep cups associated with Kentucky gentility. Weight is 4.75 troy ounces. The Truman cup, as well as the JFK, is the one they want and the hardest to find.
