| During the Victorian era, equine canes were popular with horse fanciers and horse racing afficionados who carried their walking sticks to the race track. The ivory L handle on this circa cane is fashioned with a carved horse's head and measures 3 x 2-1/4 inches. The horse's eyes are glass. The hallmarked sterling silver German (900 fine) silver collar is engraved "Fritz Zimmer - Otto Van Spring". Perhaps the cane was a gift from one gentleman to another. The snakewood shaft terminates in a horn tip. The overall length of this attractive stick is 35 inches. | ||||||||||
