19th CENTURY FRENCH MILITARY MUSICIAN SWORD

This early 19th century French military musician's sword has survived in nice condition. The French musician's sword was an influence for the American Civil War models carried by bandsmen as regulation from the 1840s to the 1890s. This one has survived in nice condition with only a little staining on the 29-1/2 inch blade. Mounted with a brass hilt and guard, which is adorned with the musician's emblem, the sword has a brass fitted leather scabbard which remains intact. The brass hilt measures 6 x 4-1/4 inches. Overall length is 36 inches.
