Collectible WWI Souvenir plate of the Great War exclusively made by Grimwades Stoke on Trent England. Measures just under 9" x 9". Harder to find border in this one. Excellent condition and gold trim is nice.No chips cracks or discoloration. Some typical crazing. Caption under the picture reads" When the 'ell is it goin' to be Strawberry?" It appears the soldier is sick of the plum & apple rations.Towards the end of 1917 the owners of The Bystander granted Leonard Grimwade permission to reproduce a limited number of Fragments From France cartoons by Bruce Bairnsfather on items from the Grimwades range of pottery then in production. This is an awesome piece of history.
