Extremely rare Cizhou ware truncated meiping, Jin-Yuan Dynasty, with a squat ovoid body, a recessed base and a short narrow ribbed neck, freely painted with two bands of stylized flying ducks or geese over a creamy ground, the largest on the body of the jar, the smallest on the shoulder, each band within double lines. Rare and impressive glass bottle (Nootka or Makah, Northwest Coast)covered with a fine weave of twined bear grass over cedar bark. Solid bands alternating with open lattice work. Middle band with polychrome (aniline dyes) figures of whale and eagle, and on the other side hunting scene with boat and flying sea bird. 1890-1900 period. Almost 12" high. In excellent condition. This bottle may have had a lid at some point.
