Large Art Deco ceramic sculpture by Charles Catteau (France, 1880-1966)for Boch Freres Keramis, circa 1925-1935, depicting an ice skating couple. In excellent condition. Small glaze skip on the shoulder of the woman (original to the piece). Signed with Boch Freres La Louviere circular printed mark and inscribed 1133 on the bottom. Also inscribed "BFK Ch. Beautiful early bowl by Abraham (Abe) Cohn (American, Wisconsin, 1925-2013), circa 1957-1963 (incised signature "acohn"" in script, also numbered 222-1). 6 3/4" in diameter at the top, 4 1/2" high. Large important studio pottery vase by the late Sinclair Ahsley of Chattanooga, Tn. 12" high and in excellent condition. Fully signed on the bottom "Sinclair Ashley", also bears the artist's chop. Exceptional overlapping glazes. From the seventies. Sinclair Ashley worked with Charles Counts at Rising Fawn in the sixties, before opening his own studio in Chattanooga. He went on to teach at Baylor University. One of two large pieces by this artist currently offered on this web gallery.
