Beautifully potted and decorated vase by Jacques Blin (France, 1920-1995). 5 1/2" in diameter, 4 1/2" high. In excellent condition. This vase is decorated with a wide frieze of deeply incised imaginary stylized birds. Blin became a ceramic artist in the forties. He worked in Paris and Troyes. Highly collected.

Original hand thrown and hand enameled vase by Gilbert Portanier (France, born 1926). This vase measures roughly 7", with a diameter at the base of 5". It is signed with Portanier's distinctive monogram near the base. In excellent condition except for a glaze chip near the mouth of the vase. Portanier is one of the most important ceramic artists in the second half of the twentieth century in France.

Large and impressive ceramic vase by Jean Marais (France, 1913-1998). 9 1/2" tall, in excellent condition. Signed twice "Jean Marais" (bottom and side). Jean Marais was an icon of French cinema, known for his collaboration with Jean Cocteau in Beauty and the Beast, and the Orphee movies. In the seventies he moved to Vallauris in the South of France where he started producing ceramics and opened a gallery which is now a Museum that bears his name. Rare.
