Unusual and exceptionally large pottery vase or bowl by Gilbert Metenier (France), from the late Art Nouveau Period, circa 1920, in excellent condition. This "gres flamme" is signed with the incised (rather than stamped, which is more usual) "G.Metenier" mark. It measures approximately 9" across and 8" in height. Number 920 in the "Gres d'Art Metenier" catalog from 1930.

Original oil painting on canvas by Maurice Becker (Russian-American, 1889-1975), in untouched condition, measuring 24" by 20", a little more in its original frame. This painting is signed and titled verso. It must date from the late fourties or early fifties when the artist spent time in Mexico. Maurice Becker is an extremely well-listed artist who studied with Robert Henri and exhibited in the famous Armory Show in New York City. This painting would benefit from a cleaning.
