Large original watercolor painting by Gerald F. Brommer (American, California, born 1927). This work measures 20" by 30" (26" by 36" in its original frame). It is signed G.F. Brommer and dated 68 l.l. Offered in beautiful condition. The painting depicts a part of the California coast near Malibu Beach, Trancas Beach and El Matador. Behind the Matador, a shack, apparently the same shack represented in the artist's "Trancas Beach Shack". On a rock in the distance, a couple of people fishing surrounded by seagulls. A great period California watercolor by one of the masters of the genre. Gerald Brommer was born in Berkeley and studied at Chouinard and the Otis Art Institute. He also studied with Robert E. Wood. He is the author of thirty-five books on art instruction. He also was president of the California Watercolor Society, and the West Coast Watercolor Society. Well-listed, exhibited (165 solo exhibitions, 200 international exhibitions), and collected.
