Original gouache painting by Alexander (Alex) Redein (American, 1912-1990), in beautiful condition and still in its original frame, circa 1950. 9" by 6" (13" by 10" in its frame). From a New Hampshire estate. Alexander Redein's work has always been strongly represented on this website. He was an important figure of the New York art scene for about 40 years. He studied at the Yale School of Fine Art, and at the Art Students League. He was one of the modernist artists who regularly gathered at the Rothman Frame Shop on 28th Street, alongside Remo Farrugio, Byron Browne, the Kallem brothers, Joseph de Martini, Michael Lekakis, etc. He spent his summers painting in Provincetown, Woodstock, and on Fire Island. Well exhibited (PAFA, NAD, AWS), listed, and collected.
