Original oil painting on panel circa 1960s by Jacques Koslowsky (Lithuanian, American, lived in Paris and Mallorca, 1904-1993). This painting is signed l.r. It measures 24" by 27" in its newer frame (approximately 20 1/2" by 23 1/2" painting alone). In excellent condition. All the elements used by the artist to create this composition were used in other works of the same period. Jacques Koslowsky (French version of his name) was born in Lithuania in 1904. He studied medicine and art in Florence, and art in Paris at L'Ecole Nationale des Beaux Arts (from 1932 on). In Paris he does frequent the great painters of the period--he had a studio in Montparnasse. He left France two months after Hitler's occupation of the country and found his way to New York. He became an American citizen but lived and painted mainly until the end of his life in Mallorca. Jacques Koslowsky is very well listed and collected.
