| Original oil painting on board by Alexander (Alex) Redein (American, 1912-1990) in beautiful original condition and in its original frame, circa 1945-1950. Signed l.r. 16" by 12", 23" by 19" in its frame. Redein was an important figure of the New York art scene for many years. He studied at the Yale School of Fine Art, and at the Art Students League. He was a member of the modernist group which congregated regularly at the Rothman Frame Shop on 28th St. (together with Remo Farrugio, Byron Browne, the Kallem brothers, etc. He spent his summers painting in Provincetown, Woodstock, and on Fire Island. Well exhibited (PAFA, NAD, AWS, etc.), listed, and collected. One of a number of works by this artist on this site. | |
