Original painting on gesso panel by Pierre Carron (French, born 1932). Inscribed, signed, and dated verso: "Scena d'Amore Affresco Della Casa Romana De La Farnesina--Pierre Carron--1964". 9" by 14" work alone, 14" by 19" in its frame. This work dates from the end of Carron's residency at the Villa Medici (1961-1964) in Rome, where he met Balthus who directed the establishment. Carron had already won the Grand Prix de Rome by that time in 1960. When he returned to France he became professor at the Ecole des Beaux Arts (1967-1997) and later president of the Academie des Beaux Arts (in 2002). An interesting work by an important 20th century French figurative painter.
