| Original collage on canvas(mixed media with paint, foil, etc.) by Walter Thrift (American, 1922-1969), in excellent condition. Circa 1960-1965. 38" by 30". Signed l.r. "Walter Thrift". Also bears on the verso an artist label giving the title of the work, and a partial exhibition label. Walter Thrift was born in High Point, North Carolina, but spent most of his life in Virginia. Active as an artist mainly in the fifties and sixties, he had a number of solo exhibitions: in 1964 his "Recent Paintings" were shown by the Chrysler Museum in Norfolk, VA; in March 67 it was the turn of the Virginia Museum of Fine Art in Richmond with an exhibition titled: "Virginia Artist: Walter Thrift", etc. His works are held in a number of private and corporate collections, as well as in Museum collections (Mint Museum in Charlotte, NC, Hickory Museum, Ringling Museum in Sarasota, etc.) | |
