| Original mixed media on paper by Daniel Hersh (American, born 1946). This painting measures 18" by 24", is signed l.r. and dated 1987, and is in excellent unframed original condition. Daniel Hersh is a second generation abstract expressionist who studied with-- and assisted-- Albert Kotin in the sixties while at Long Island University. He also assisted Abram Schlemowitz with his monumental abstract expressionist works. His style is reminiscent of Jackson Pollock's, but is generally more intense, bold, and rhythmic. He had a studio and art gallery in New Hope in the 1970's, where he was the first to re-introduce the New Hope Modernists to the public. | |
