| Original watercolor (Monhegan Island, Maine?) by Henry Kallem (American/ 1912-1985). Signed in pencil l.l., offered in a beautiful carved gallery frame. This watercolor is in original condition. It measures 10 1/2" by 14 1/2" (opening size). Kallem along with Remo Farrugio, Byron Browne, Joseph De Martini, Alexander Redein, etc. took part in the 28th Street group of modernists who congregated at the Henry and David Rothman frame shop. Like a number of these artists he spent time in Provincetown and Monhegan Island, where he may have painted this watercolor. His works are held by the Corcoran Gallery, the Newark Museum, the Chrysler Museum, etc. | |
