Original oil painting by Socrates Perakis (American, 20th Century). This is an early self portrait by this artist, circa 1964, signed "Perakis" l.l; also signed twice by the hand of the artist on the stretcher: also bears the inscription on the stretcher: "Weber's retouch varnish July 1964". It also carries an exhibition label stating the full name of the artist and the number in the exhibition (#31). 16" by 22", 24" by 30" in its frame. Provenance: from the Socrates Perakis Gallery in Philadelphia. This painting is in excellent original condition, in its original Swedish-made frame. Perakis is known both as an artist and as a gallery owner in Philadelphia, PA, who gave solo shows to artists like John Formicola, Joseph Amarotico (1962-1964), Elizabeth Osborne (1964), etc. He studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art.
