| Original gouache on paper by Alexander Redein (American, 1912-1990) offered archivally remounted in its original frame and in excellent condition. This work is signed l.r. It is also inscribed "Alex Redein, 222 E. 15th St, NYC--Title: Part of NY--Price: 200" and bears a gallery label from Rudolph Galleries of Woodstock, NY. 29" by 34" in its frame, 20" by 24" work alone. Alexander Redein's work has been a constant presence on this site. He was an important figure of the New York art scene for about 40 years. He studied at the Yale School of Fine Art, and at the Art Students League. He was one of the modernist artists who regularly gathered at the Rothman Frame Shop on 28th Street, alongside Remo Farrugio, Byron Browne, the Kallem brothers, Joseph de Martini, Michael Lekakis, etc. He spent his summers painting in Provincetown, Woodstock, and on Fire Island. Well exhibited (PAFA, NAD, AWS, etc.), listed, and collected. | |
