Japanese carved granite votive figure of Jizo Bosatsu, guardian of children. The protective Buddhist deity in typical pose and gesture. Used as road markers for pilgrims on there way to temples and as votive offerings at appropriate shrines. 19th century or earlier. Very heavy, no mark. Dimensions" 24 1/2" tall, 9" wide, 5" thick.
