A very fine pair of carved & lacquered panel insets,Meiji Period,each carved in high relief depicting a horned demon with flowing hair against a background of moving clouds.The fierce demon faces are shown with open mouths,exposed fangs and bulging,mother-of pearl inset eyes. Condition: Excellent. Circa:Meiji Period,1868-1912. Size:7 5/8"L x 4 1/2"H. An outstanding pair of 19thC Japanese lacquered carvings.
