This early blue&white Chinese tea caddy is of the shape copied from the metal original probably in either tin or silver. These early containers were some of the first to be used in porcelain to keep the tea fresh. The lids were usually lost or broken and replaced with wooden or cork stoppers or newly made in silver if the owner was a person of wealth. The condition is is quite good with a very small chip at the corner of the base and on the lip of the neck as seen on the photo enlargements.Circa:Qing Dynasty,Kangxi Period (1662-1722)Size:Height:3 3/4"including the neck.
