This superb Chinese brushpot is painted in vibrant&deep cobalt-blue pigment showing a scholar resting at his table with his scholarly items in front of him in a vase. A bat flies towards him which suggests a message,in Chinese decorative art, that "Fook"or Happiness is coming. The bottom of the brushpot shows an unglaze finish and the potter's wheel-marks which is another sign that this porcelain brushpot is of the 18thC. Condition:Perfect Circa:Qing Dynasty,Qianlong Period.(1736-1795) Size:Height:4 1/4" x Dia:3 3/4" A wonderful 18thC blue and white brushpot painted in true Chinese taste.
