This outstanding 18thC Chinese porcelain charger from the Qing Dynasty has as its central medallion the Chinese character"Shou",meaning longevity or long life.The decorations all in underglaze blue,spread across the willow-green ground in the shapes and forms of "ruyi"which were often employed as decoration motifs around the borders by the potters.The curled sceptre(ruyi)is often considered a bearer of happiness in the Buddhist culture.Condition: Perfect. Circa:Qing Dynasty,18thC,Qianlong Period(1736-1795) Size:11 1/2"Diameter x 2"high. A superb Chinese celedon charger of the Qing period.
