This beautiful,small Japanese enameled teapot is signed under the lid Kutani Shoza(1816-1883),probably one of the best known 19thC Japanese potters.This wonderful teapot is enameled with two beautiful floral windows and one window showing a finely detailed riverscape.The handle was made of old rattan&bamboo and adds to the character of the pot. Condition:Perfect. Circa:Early Meiji Period (1868-1880).Size:4 3/4"high(including handle) x4 3/4"(from end of spout to end of teapot) A perfect example of this outstanding artist's skill and his attention to detail regarding enamel on porcelain painting. If you are a collector of Japanese porcelain teapots,this is one you should not pass up.
