A superb,early 19thC Chinese bamboo carving
depecting Lao Tzu riding on top of the ox.
It is finely carved from a single bamboo root
and exhibits a fine, soft patina acquired over the many
years of handling&usage.The exquisitely detailed
carving of Lao Tzu's robe, basket and "rice
patty"hat are really incredible works of art,as well as the ox figure carving itself. The condition of the piece is perfect.
Circa:Qing Dynasty,Daoguang Period.(1821-1850)Size:8 1/4"high.
One of the nicest bamboo carvings I have had in my collection.A real find for the discerning collector of fine bamboo carvings.
