Very fine Japanese Cloisonne Enamel Creamer. This type of work and shape is often associated with Namikawa Yasuyuki and that is who we think did this piece. The amount and quality of work on this piece is just incredible. The top half of the creamer has a wonderful jet black mirror finish ground with foliage and flowers along with 6 round panels consisting of a butterfly amongst florals, 2 beautifully done shi-shi panels, 2 very well done phoenix panels and 1 dragon panel. The bottom top half of the creamer has an elaborate butterfly boarder that goes around the entire yellow ground. Beautiful elegant shape with Gilt wires. Creamer is approx. 6 x 1/8" in length (to end of handle) and 2 x 3/4" tall. Condition is excellent but for two minor and small stress cracks (approx. 1/16" in length) right below the top of the handle. The one that you can see....goes from the top of the red circle into the black... and the enamel has slightly lifted up but is stable. The second stress line is to the right of the first and in the black enamel which I could not photograph. This is shown in the last photo. The piece has pitting/pops in the enamel (which is associated with this period of work) especially in the orange flowers on the bottom half of the creamer. No repairs or restoration
