An unusual Arita dish. While not surprising to find an Arita ware dish in Kakiemon palette, one also with a celadon glaze is rare. Polychrome prunus decoration (perhaps quince or blackthorn from the thorns) in the foliate rim dish. Black outline for leaves and branches - red outline for blossoms. Also green, blue, yellow and red enamel decoration. Subtle chatter marks within the unglazed footrim - not an exact circle. Four randomly positioned spur marks and one bubble inside the foot. An inscribed spiral under the glaze center of the foot not likely a mark. We believe this dish has good age pre-dating the 19th century. Kakiemon style Arita celadon dishes are known from the Genroku era. We attribute the dish to circa 1800. Good condition with light rubbing from wear. 7 3/4 to 7 7/8 inches (about 20 cm) diameter. Height about 1 inch (2.54 cm)
