A Very Patched Shima Nagagi with Tenugui Towel Reinforc

THIS PIECE CURRENTLY ON HOLD 12/17/06 ca. early Twentieth century 46" x 43 1/2", 117 cm x 109 cm This nagagi, or work 'kimono' is made of indigo dyed cotton shima, or striped fabric, primarily. It is exceedingly patches all over the interior of the piece, very attractively done and very insistently sewn. The shoulder area is reinforced by a gauzy, printed tenugui towel, which is an attractive and unusual addition to this piece. There are countless patches of handwoven cloth, abundantly placed on all parts of this nagagi. A beauty, and one to add to your existing collection, or one with which to begin a collection.
