| ca. 1920's 5 1/2" x 11" x 1", 15 cm x 28 cm x 2.5 cm This sample book shows 96 different silk color swatches on 9 pages: the colors in this book can be thought to be highly sophisticated in that most of them are muted, dense and dull, but not dull in the boring sense, but in the spectral sense. The colors are a joy to look at for this reason: most of the colors are quizzical: is it green or is it grey or is it grey-green-khaki? Very unusual and for those who enjoy color, this is a very refined palette. Obvious is the wear to the cover and the discoloration to the thick, cardboard pages. Most likely this book dates to the early part of last century, and for collectors of sample books or for colorists, this book is very satisfying. | ||||||||||
