| ca. late Nineteenth, early Twentieth century 6 1/2" x 7 1/2", 16.5 cm x 19 cm This is a marvelously earthy bag made from four scraps of hand loomed cottons. The subtle striped cotton fabric of the body of the bag, the medium-blue gauzy cotton of the top trim, and the fabulously faded disc of plaid cloth at the bottom are all very indicative of the humilit and simplicity of Japanese folk textiles. | |||||||
